You could be losing an 80% of your sales...

Author : Joaquin de la Sierra

Having a good SE placement is the difference between succeeding and failing in your business. Search engines give more than 80% of the traffic to big sites. This means that if you don’t have a good SE position you will be losing that 80% of your sales. You don’t want to lose that kind of money! If you work hard for a few months, you will be selling more than you ever imagined. But it all requires patience and hard work. Each second that passes by, means time lost. These days time = money. And the more money you gain, the more you can enjoy your life in the future. So what are you waiting for?

You have a webpage, but nobody knows about it? That seems like a problem. Well, this article is just for you. I have several web pages, and they all have a good search engine ranking. The true secrets to achieve this are very simple: keywords, keywords and more keywords! Why do you think there are people who have a #1 search engine(SE) position that get thousands of customers a day, while there are others who also have a #1 position, but only get a few customers? The answer is keywords.

Before you start making your webpage, you must first decide which keywords you are going to use. You can do this by asking yourself, what are my customers looking for? Instead on focusing on single words, you should focus on 2 or more. Instead of considering your keyword “ranking” or “search engine” you should consider them to be something like “search engine optimization”. This is what people are looking for.

Remember to ask your friends and family their opinions about your keywords. Also ask them for keywords that they think would do better. Write them down somewhere. Then proceed to eliminate some of them, until you get a few keywords that really describe your website. Try to look up your keywords in Google to see how much competition you have, if you see many strong websites with high page rankings (PR) you can either look for another word, or try to beat them. I wouldn’t recommend the second option since that could take many months, instead look for other keywords. There is always something that nobody has come up with before. In addition to this, also remember to see what keywords your competition is using, this can greatly help you in selecting more. Finally, look for programs that help you see how many people are using certain keywords. This can help you to eliminate some that are not being used frequently.

Some people say that reciprocal links are very useful, and you should use them a lot. I have proved otherwise. Reciprocal links are not as important as they used to be, some search engines can detect reciprocal links, and if they can’t they will be able to detect them soon. There are many things you can do that will greatly help you:

A) Create a website that people like, with original content; this way people will start linking to you. This seems like the best way to do it, but it takes a lot of time. One way links pointing directly to your site is what you should be looking for.

B) Submit your website to directories. Some directories are free, while others charge you a small fee. Check at the end of this article for some places to submit your site.

C) Use the ABC linking strategy. This means that site A (your site) links to site B. Site B links to site C, and finally site C links back to you (site A). This way search engines won’t see your links as reciprocal links; Moreover, your links will give your site a much greater value. There are some services that can do this for you, though I don’t really recommend them since Google will probably ban them at some point.

D) Don’t submit your site to Google. If Google’s spiders find it by themselves, your site will have a better ranking.

E) Never buy services that send your website to thousands of search engines. They will just send your e-mail to marketing companies that will send spam-mail to you. Oh yeah, you paid for that. In top of that, they will use a program that the major search engines don’t like. They can get your site banned forever, and sending your website to small search engines doesn’t work since they get their results from the major search engines.

F) Buying links: You should only do this if you have a lot of money for your website and you need to have a good SE position fast. If you look hard enough, you can get a PR 7 website link directly to you for 100 dollars a month. If the website linking to you has a few outbound links, your website’s ranking can increase dramatically and get to a PR of 5 or maybe 6.

G) Targeted traffic. Why do you want a million people browsing your website, if none of them are looking for whatever you are selling? You need targeted traffic. There are many companies that send you 500,000 or more visitors for as little as $50 dollars. But this is not what you need. Those people are untargeted, and they want the same thing you want; money. SE and direct links are the best ways to get targeted traffic, since your users are looking for whatever product you are selling.

I’m going to keep the following list brief, and just list the essential directories. You can find many more out there, but these are the ones I personally like:

Dmoz.com: Also known as the open directory project. This directory is probably the best out there. If you submit your site to it and it gets accepted, it is very likely that it will appear in Google and many other search engines in a few weeks.

Dir.yahoo.com/: This is Yahoo’s directory. You can choose to pay 300 dollars for a quick submission, which seems stupid, or just submit it for free. I don’t recommend spending $300 in submitting, because you can spend that money in other forms of advertisement. It’s up to you though.

Joeant.com: this directory charges you a small fee to submit your website. Alternatively, you can become an editor and submit it for free.

Zeal.com: this is another good directory. It charges you a small fee, or you can become an editor and submit your site for free.

Jayde.com: This directory only accepts business-related websites.

You can find many others on the internet. If you submit your website to any of these, it will probably take any time from a few days to many months to be listed. Also be sure to read the directory’s rules before submitting.

Conclusion:

Having a good SE position takes time and patience. But if you work hard at it, it will pay of. Don’t pay money to any service that has a to-good-to-be-true offer; they don’t work, trust me.

You can spend many thousand dollars in advertisement a month, but the real way to have a good SE ranking is by adding unique content to your site, making people dependable on whatever you are selling, and using your own free time to check that things are going great.

I can almost guarantee you that if you work hard, and you spend 3 hour of your time a week for 4 months by advertising your website to search engines, directories, websites, and other places, you will have your website in a top ten ranking position. 4 hours a week doesn’t seem like much, right? Perhaps you want to spend more time. Don’t rush things too much since directories and search engines take a long time to actually show your site. Remember to work hard, and never forget that perseverance is the key.
